Clinico-epidemiological study of cutaneous adverse drug reactions among the in-patients of dermatology department, Goa Medical College, Goa

<p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> An adverse drug reaction (ADR) remains often underreported and leads to underestimated cause of morbidity mortality. ADR frequently manifests as cutaneous reactions (ACDRs) manifestations varies from mild acneiform eruption life threatening events like toxic epidermal necrolysis. Aim was study clinic-epidemiological pattern various ACDRs among inpatients in department dermatology common drugs causing assess causality severity.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> This retrospective observational conducted for a period one year Goa Medical College. All patients fulfilling criteria were included.<strong></strong></p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> A total 24 studied. Most ACDR observed age group 21-40 years. Stevens Johnson syndrome (SJS) (25%) most followed by morbilliform rash (20.8%). Other manifestation DRESS (12.5%), fixed (FDE) (12.5%) angioedema acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) (8.33%); erythroderma (4.16%) urticaria (4.16%). Antibiotics commonly implicated category causation accounting 37.5% NSAIDS (25%). Based on assessment, probable cases had higher incidence - 54.2% possible 37.5%. considered have severe required hospitalization management reactions.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Conclusions:</strong> ADRs are under-reported due factors practicing doctors should be encouraged report order improve medical therapy the benefit healthcare workers worldwide.</p>
